Feldesman Partner Co-Authors Health Affairs Article
Discusses How FQHCs Provide Food-Focused Services to Improve Health Outcomes
Feldesman Partner Adam Falcone recently co-authored an article in Health Affairs titled “MAHA’s Low-Hanging Fruit: Enabling Health Systems To Deploy Food As Medicine” (Nov. 6, 2025). The piece explores how the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) can leverage federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) to deliver “non-medical, social, and education services” to improve health outcomes through Food is Medicine.
Mr. Falcone discusses misalignment of current law and policy priorities, noting the regulatory and funding risks that exist for FQHCs seeking to provide such services alongside traditional primary care. They propose reforms to reduce barriers and enable health centers to more efficiently address chronic disease by offering meals, employment and education opportunities that support long-term wellness.
