Adam H. Oppenheim is a seasoned attorney with more than 20 years of public, private, and nonprofit sector experience. He advises clients on federal grants and awards management, nonprofit governance, contract negotiation, and tax-exempt law, with a particular focus on grant compliance and administrative requirements in 2 C.F.R. Part 200.
Mr. Oppenheim’s background encompasses a unique blend of legal counsel, executive leadership, and public service. As a Grants Management Specialist with the National Endowment for the Humanities, he managed a portfolio of more than 300 federal grants, guided nonprofits and educational institutions through compliance, and advised on policy interpretation, audit resolution, and risk mitigation. Mr. Oppenheim also served as Grants Management Specialist at the U.S. Small Business Administration, where he helped administer the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program, providing critical emergency support to performing arts organizations nationwide during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Oppenheim served as Director of Legal Affairs for a multi-unit restaurant group in the Washington, DC area, managing contracts, vendor negotiations, risk management, and compliance, while also serving as the Acting Chief Financial Officer. He began his legal career in private practice, representing clients in high-profile civil litigation involving fiduciary duties, intellectual property, and civil rights.
Throughout his career, Mr. Oppenheim has been recognized for his ability to integrate legal, operational, and policy considerations to deliver practical, solution-orientated guidance to his clients. He is a strong advocate for values-driven institutions with public-interest missions, applying his legal and executive experience to help mission-driven organizations serve the public good effectively.
